Medical Director (Associate Professor, Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine)

Summary

Baylor College of Medicine/Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center (BSMLC) seeks a BC/BE Physician to serve in the role of Medical Director at BSLMC with an academic title at Baylor College of Medicine and an appointment in the Section of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine, Department of Medicine. The physician leader will direct the palliative medicine and geriatrics programs at BSLMC. Within two years, the program became nationally ranked in geriatrics, developed an inpatient palliative care consult service, established geriatrics-specialist collaborations in frailty assessment, and is growing and expanding an outpatient senior care clinic. The inpatient consult services seamlessly connect with the outpatient clinic and a dynamic house calls program. Opportunities to interact with the Internal Medicine residents and Geriatrics fellows are readily available. The medical director will have sufficient dedicated non-clinical effort for administrative, quality improvement and education activities. The physician leader will supervise palliative medicine physicians, geriatrics physicians, advanced practice providers, a clinical social worker, and a program coordinator.

Rank and salary commensurate with experience. Future growth, including an ambulatory palliative medicine service will be supported. Candidates are expected to have specialty training and board certification in palliative medicine and/or geriatrics, and have prior experiencing supervising both palliative medicine and geriatrics physicians. The new hire must have, or will be required to obtain, an active Texas license.
