The Information Technology Analyst Information Security is part of the Information Security (InfoSec) group with Information Technology Services ( ITS ). The primary responsibilities include the continual development, operation and maintenance of an InfoSec program that protects SU’s information resources while still permitting the University to be successful in it teaching, learning, research, and administrative missions. The IT Analyst-InfoSec will assist in Information Security Operations such as firewall management, log analysis, and incident response. They will also be primarily responsible for a well-maintained security awareness program for students and employees, and will assist in the continued maintenance and development of an information security policy framework and with InfoSec compliance directives.


• Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Business or a related field with 3-5 years of IT security experience and/or general IT experience with a slant towards security.

Job Specific Qualifications

• Excellent communication and people skills to be used for the development and delivery of awareness training material.
• Firewall administration
• Vulnerability assessment
• Some experience with, network IDS, SIEM, Linus/Unix administration, log analysis and scripting.
• Risk assessment background
• Experience in compliance directives such as PCI, HIPAA, FERPA, or GLBA .


• Manage an Information Security Awareness program for SU. Includes developing and delivering training material, maintaining social media accounts, organizing awareness events at key times during the year, and managing student employees to assist in this effort.
• Manage and maintain several firewalls deployed at different locations throughout the campus network.
• Assist as needed in the Security Operations Center with analysis of IDS alerts, logs, and netflow.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of an overall Information Security Framework ( ISF ) of policy and standards which covers the entire university.
Assist the ISO in driving and managing the ISF project.
• Assist in compliance efforts for PCI, HIPAA, FERPA and GLBA through the implementation and tracking of technical controls and assessment of the University’s state of compliance.
• Develop workflows as needed for specific processes and procedures.
