The Department of Art History at the University of Chicago is accepting applications for a part-time, benefits-eligible Lecturer in Art History for a one-year, non-renewable term starting 1 September 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter to fill teaching needs resulting from other faculty commitments.

The teaching load will include four classes over three quarters of the academic year. These include art history courses that meet the distribution requirements in the Arts, Music, Drama Core Curriculum and may as needed also include one section of the seminar “Approaches to Art History” introducing art historical methods to students in the Masters Program in the Humanities.

Qualifications

A PhD in art or architectural history or a related field is required. Experience teaching art history in a liberal arts college curriculum is highly desirable.

The terms and conditions of employment for this position are covered by a collective bargaining agreement between the University and the Service Employees International Union.
