JOB DESCRIPTION

The University of Indianapolis is seeking applicants for Communications Specialist for Admissions. This is a full-time exempt staff position. This role is an integral member of the University Communications and Marketing team, assisting in the development and execution of action-based and process-oriented communication plans for admissions and recruitment. The successful candidate is skilled in the development, implementation and monitoring the success of multi-channel communication plans designed to positively impact enrollment goals. Critical to the success of this position is experience in development, execution and project management of integrated, action-based communications including content development and program automation, as well as working in collaboration with the Office of Admissions, Director of Admissions Marketing Strategy and the Associate Vice President of Communications and Marketing.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees the production of communications plans and deliverables to fulfill admissions and enrollment goals, including (but not limited to) all operational email content, print materials, SMS communications
  • Works closely with communications and marketing team members to support admissions enrollment goals and strategic priorities
  • Works closely with the Director of Admissions Marketing Strategy and Admissions Marketing Manager to support the development and execution of comprehensive integrated communications to support enrollment and recruitment goals
  • Manages productive working relationships with creative staff, and university and contracted vendors (when necessary), to help ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Develops content and copy for all admissions operational materials and communications to include (but not limited to): email, print/collateral, SMS and web operational communications to support the application, deposit, enrollment, and financial aid progressions, as well as prospective student events and new student orientation processes
  • Executes database/CRM management skills to generate audience lists in order to target, create and execute communications designed to reach multiple audiences including prospective, admitted, deposited and enrolled students, their parents and influencers using automated communications within a University’s CRM software
  • Creates reports measuring the performance of operational tactics and takes appropriate action to improve or alter tactics based on data
  • Collaboratively works with the Creative Team as well as the Content Strategy Team to ensure design and creative work meets the expectations and goals for admissions recruitment and retention
  • Multi-tasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in a fast-paced work environment
  • Serves as a collegial and collaborative member of the Communications & Marketing department, assisting with other marketing-related duties as assigned and as time permits
  • Adapts to workload and working conditions while maintaining a positive attitude and professional demeanor
  • Oversees multi-component deliverables through project plans and communications across all parties involved in the project
  • Creates project estimates, plans and timelines that consider what each deliverable requires and what resources may be needed; discussing impact against other priorities in the queue with supervisor
  • Manages project risks, documenting pain points, and setting a plan for these items to mitigate against them
  • Effectively tracks and manages projects using project management software


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, English, Technical Writing or related field
  • At least 3 years of experience in writing, creating and executing automated, multi-channel communications plans, preferably in a higher education setting
  • Demonstrable experience managing action-based communications development and execution
  • Experience creating, executing and managing communication plans within a marketing automation system and/or a CRM
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, working with creative teams; and ability to develop and produce content in high-volume, high-stress environments
  • Superior writing, spelling, punctuation and grammar skills
  • Evidence of superior oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments independently, with a demonstrated ability to work as part of a team toward organizational objectives
  • Evidence of success working effectively with diverse constituencies and in a team environment
  • Admissions and/or Financial Aid experience preferred
