Position Summary:

The Academic Program Specialist contributes to the development, implementation, administration, coordination, and evaluation for one or more academic programs to ensure effectiveness in meeting departmental and student development goals and initiatives. The Specialist will strive to create a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive work environment.

This position is responsible for the administrative and budgetary components of the Health Disparities Research Scholars Program, in accordance with the NIH, UW and departmental policies. This includes the NIH post-doctoral training grant as well as other career development programming. In addition. This position is also responsible for managing all aspects of the annual calendar of departmental CME activities including statewide and regional conferences, regularly scheduled grand rounds, and morbidity and mortality conferences.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Required Education:
- Bachelors degree.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Required Experience:
- 2 years of experience working in research, training or administrative setting in an academic environment, including pre- and post-award grants management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Experience:
- Specialization in academic or health care related field, experience in training programs.
- Knowledge of National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant funding mechanisms, particularly those related to career development.
- Knowledge of WISDM, WISPER, ARROW, eRA Commons, and ETHOS.

Prefix assignment determined by years of relevant work experience. A minimum of 7 years experience is required for appointment at the senior level.
