Position Summary:
This position reports to the Dean of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS), or designee. The Director of Recruitment and Student Engagement is responsible for recruitment of students to college-wide programs; managing the scholarship award process; managing events that provide connectivity between alumni, stakeholders, future students, and current students; fostering enhanced educational and professional development and placement opportunities including but not limited to internships, workshops and other extracurricular programs. The Director leads and manages all programming efforts to strengthen student recruitment for Academic Programs within CALS. A primary responsibility involves managing the CALS Ambassador program and maintaining close working relationships with stakeholders, FFA and FCCLA organizations, high school career and technical educators, community colleges in the PNW, agricultural associations, and other groups. The Director works closely with all CALS Academic Departments, CALS Marketing & Communications Manager, the CALS Events Coordinator, the UI Strategic Enrollment Management team in recruiting and retention of students in CALS and at UI, and celebrating the successes of CALS' students and quality of CALS' academic programs.


Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree that aligns with the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences degrees offered such as in Agricultural and Extension Education; Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology; Animal and Veterinary Science; Entomology, Plant Pathology and Nematology; Family and Consumer Sciences; Plant Sciences; Food Science; Soil and Water Systems; Water Resources; Environmental Science or other closely related field or degree in communications, marketing, public relations.

•Two years’ work experience in higher education, recruitment, and/or agriculturally-related organizations such as 4-H and Future Farmers of America.

• Experience developing marketing materials and correspondence targeting potential students, parents and stakeholders.

• Experience with organizational skills, including working and prospering in a team environment.

• Experience with computer software and applications for word processing, email, internet searches, and data organization.


Preferred Qualifications:
• M.S. degree in agricultural or life sciences, or related field.
• Knowledge of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, the University of Idaho, and the mission and purpose of land grant institutions.
• Demonstrated verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work creatively and independently.
• Knowledge of university or college scholarship awarding and administration policies.
• Previous experience in organization, leadership, and management of events.


Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
• Ability to lift, carry, or otherwise move 40 pounds.
• Ability to travel extensively locally and across the region which includes transporting recruitment materials and story boards.
• Willingness to work irregular hours, including weekends.
