Bard High School Early College (BHSEC) Newark, a partnership between Bard College and the Newark Board of Education in Newark, NJ, invites applications for an adjunct faculty position in Psychology, to teach one course in our spring 2020 intensive term. Called “X-Term,” our spring intensive offers students the opportunity to take one college course over a three-week period. In spring 2020, the dates of X-Term are May 21th to June 16th, and the course will meet 3-4 hours per day during that timeframe.

Through a tuition-free, credit-bearing college program in the liberal arts and sciences with robust supports, BHSEC schools help high school age students, particularly those at risk of not completing postsecondary education, access, afford, and complete college prepared to contribute to the workforce and civic life. At BHSEC Newark, students have the opportunity to earn up to 60 college credits and an associate in arts (A.A.) degree from Bard College, concurrently with a high school diploma from the Newark Board of Education.

For this course, we are seeking an instructor to introduce students to the science of the human mind and behavior. M.A. and college teaching experience required; Ph.D. desirable. In all of our faculty roles, we seeking educators passionate about their fields of study and committed to advancing equity through rigorous curricula made accessible to students with varied academic preparation. Work authorization in the United States required for all BHSEC Newark faculty positions.
