The Department of Industrial and Engineering Technology within
Southeastern Louisiana University invites applications for a
position at the Instructor level to begin in January 2021. The
successful candidate is expected to teach a variety of occupational
safety, health, and environment courses. Candidates whose
qualifications cover more than one of these specific areas are
especially preferred. Applicants are also expected to participate
in other activities that include advising students, mentoring
senior design projects, and participating in service activities at
the Department, College, and University levels.
Experience a professional level is a plus, enthusiastic personality and collaborative spirit are a must. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate mutual activities with industry, professional, and government agencies are welcomed.
The Department of Industrial and Engineering Technology is home to three bachelor programs: Occupational Safety, Health and Environment (OSHE), Engineering Technology (ET), and Industrial Technology (IT). The Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment is an ABET accredited program. The Engineering Technology is also an ABET accredited program and has five concentrations: Computer, Construction, Electrical Energy, Mechanical, and Mechatronics. The Industrial Technology is an ATMAE accredited program and offers four concentrations: Design Drafting, Automated Systems, Supervision, and Welding Technology.
The department offers a unique mix of programs and has been growing steadily over the years. We seek an applicant who possesses outstanding interpersonal and communication skills who would support the continuous improvement of the Occupational Safety Health and Environment program. The candidate is expected to have a strong commitment to equal opportunity and diversity. Experience with assessments and ABET accrediting agency is desired. The selected candidate must have a minimum of a Master's degree in Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment related fields and a professional certification including, but not limited to: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH). Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment, or any closely related discipline from an accredited university with at least eighteen hours of graduate level courses in the teaching discipline.
Applicants are expected to have a strong commitment to teaching, the ability to teach a variety of Occupational Safety, Health and Environment courses at all levels, and effective communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate mutual activities with industry, professional, and government agencies.
