The Department of Communication at the University of South Alabama invites applications for the position of Department Chair. The starting date is August 15, 2021. The Department is seeking a dynamic leader who will be responsible for the academic, personnel, financial, and administrative needs of the Department. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Communication or a closely related field and should currently hold the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor. Specialization is open.  The successful candidate will have a strong research record, a commitment to teaching excellence, and demonstrated administrative experience. The Department Chair is a twelve-month position and reports to the Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences.

The Department of Communication offers both a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a Master of Arts in Communication. The Bachelor's degree has four concentrations: Communication Studies, Digital Cinema and Television, Journalism, and Strategic Communication.
