Responsibilities:

Alfred University Performing Arts Division Department of Theatre seeks a year-long Visiting Assistant Professor for Spring and Fall semester 2021.

The faculty are engaged artists and educators who are recognized nationally and internationally for their intellectual and creative research. We seek a colleague who is committed to a dynamic and robust student experience.

The successful candidate will participate in division service and teach a 3/3 load including Theatre History (1650 - Present, with emphasis on African Diaspora and Latinx Theatre), Acting 2 and Script Analysis, along with the possibility of directing a play for either the Spring or Fall semester. The successful candidate will be expected to participate and contribute to departmental and campus activities that support the university mission. All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom.

Minimum Qualifications: MFA, or PhD in Theatre History and/or Performance Studies or related field required. Expertise in one or more of the following areas: African Diaspora & African American, Asian & Asian American, Latinx, and LGBTQ theatre. Preferred Qualifications: Additional certifications or other specialties strengthen applications for this position. An ability to work and teach collaboratively is essential. To apply:
