About the Opportunity:
Reporting to the Vice Chancellor, Student Success, the Director for the Office of Student Conduct & Conflict Resolution (OSCCR) provides leadership, direction and supervision for the student conduct & conflict resolution programs at the University. Specifically, the Director is responsible for management of all student conduct matters, academic and non-academic in nature, on university property (including all residence halls), as well as off university property, including in the neighboring communities surrounding the university, on regional campuses, and wherever Northeastern students live, work and/or learn around the world. The Director also provides oversight and direction for coordination of the university mediation and conflict resolution programs. This position also serves as an ex officio member of the Appeals Board for all disciplinary matters adjudicated through the student conduct board.

The Director works closely with the Department of Residence Life, We Care, Northeastern Police Department, the Office of University Counsel, the Office of Government Relations & Community Affairs, the Office of Gender Equity and Compliance and Title IX Coordinator, and other departments, divisions, and staff members concerning the code of student conduct and disciplinary process. The Director also plays an important role in building and maintaining positive and productive relationships between the university community and neighboring communities, and assists in developing policies and strategies to maintain and enhance relations between students and the neighboring communities, particularly relating to student conduct and behavioral issues. This position directly supervises three full time professional staff and one full time administrative assistant. The Director oversees the conduct process performed through Residence Life. The Director also administers the department budget, and ensures compliance with all laws, policies and mandates relating to the student conduct system.

Master's degree in higher education. Minimum of five to seven years progressive experience with student conduct and conflict resolution programs in higher education. Prior experience required in administering a department budget and in supervision of professional and support staff. Experience in management and handling of Title IX matters required. Experience in coordination of mediation and conflict resolution programs. The candidate must possess excellent organizational, analytical, and written/oral communication skills. The candidate must be student-centered with a working knowledge and experience in student development theory, basic student counseling, and current law/policy issues and other trends in student conduct and conflict resolution programs. The candidate must have experience with and a commitment to working in a diverse, multicultural environment. Must be able to balance multiple dimensions of student behavior, institutional accountability, law/policy/compliance, within an environment and campus that promotes learning, fairness and accountability.
