Assistant Professor of Counseling

The Department of Psychology at the University of New Haven invites applications for a full-time, tenure track, Assistant Professor position in Counselor Education & Supervision beginning January 2021.

 

We are seeking applicants with expertise in Counselor Education & Supervision to teach masters-level counseling courses (e.g., counseling theories, counseling skills, multicultural counseling competencies). A PhD in Counselor Education & Supervision is required (ABDs very close to completion will be considered); degrees from CACREP accredited programs are preferred. Research specialization is open.

 

The successful candidate must be a dynamic instructor, able to teach courses within Counseling or Counselor Education & Supervision and in our undergraduate offerings. They will also have to be able to provide supervision of counseling students. We are a diverse and collaborative department that encourages the development of new and engaging courses that emphasize experiential education. Therefore, demonstrated creativity in developing new courses or with innovative ways to deliver courses is desirable. The successful candidate will also be expected to establish/continue a strong and independent program of research. Other duties include participation in student advising, faculty-mentored research, thesis mentorship, and assisting the department in further development of our graduate counseling program as we apply for CACREP accreditation.
