Assistant Professor of Informatics/Applied Computing
The School of Sciences at Indiana University Kokomo invites applications for a full time, tenure-track, 10-month, Informatics/Applied Computing position at the assistant professor level. Although the preferred start date is January 1, 2021, we will also consider candidates who can start on August 1, 2021. Information about the School can be found at https://www.iuk.edu/sciences/.
Responsibilities include teaching various undergraduate courses in informatics and/or computer science such as computer programming, introductory-level courses in computing/informatics, organization/social informatics, system analysis & design, and other core courses in the informatics degree program depending on expertise. Course load will typically be three courses (9 cr) per semester (72% FTE). Research with undergraduates is expected and supported. Research in informatics, computer science (or in other closely related areas), and publications are required for promotion and tenure. Appropriate university/professional/community service is also required, including committee work, assessment of the major, and engaging in campus initiatives to increase student success, retention, and enrollment.
Required qualifications include a Ph.D. in informatics, computer science, computer information systems, or in a closely related field. ABDs near completion of dissertation will be considered and, if hired, will have until November of the second year to earn their Ph.D., which is required for tenure. Experience teaching informatics, computer science, or closely related courses at the undergraduate level, and experience working with undergraduates in research is desired.
