Registered Nurse II
The Department of Family and Community Medicine is looking to hire a Registered Nurse II for our clinical private practice. This position will be primarily responsible for the daily coordination of patient care and clinical skills of medical assistants. This includes contributing to process improvement and collaborating with the medical home team. Under the general supervision of the clinic leadership the RN will perform direct and indirect nursing activities in accordance with College policies and the Department memos.

• Assist manager with monitoring and tracking medical equipment and supplies of the clinic.
• Publish the clinic schedule and make sure clinics start on time.
• Work closely with the site medical director to instruct, train, and assess clinical competencies of the Medical Assistants in order to maintain clinic flow, update triage protocols, train MA on the protocol, and monitor the flow of patients' messages.
• Monitor and oversee MAs clinical activities, delegating dues to them as necessary, tracking their skills, and helping the leadership in evaluation and recruiting MAs.
• Ensure MAs are compliant with all protocols (lab and clinical) and clinical policies and procedures.
• Assist the clinic leadership to implement quality-assurance plans to improve the clinics care quality.
• Provide care coordination under the supervision of the medical management to different identified patient populations
• Prepare patients for visits with providers by performing and recording vital signs; reviews patients' medical records for completeness and updates prior to patients' visit; assists in routine physical examinations and assists the provider as needed.
• Perform selected screening tests; administer medications P.O. and IM; and perform and POCT tests as ordered by provider.
• Perform physician supervised Medicare Annual Wellness visits for patients as needed and for a limited number of patients.
• The RN will have matrix reporting to the Clinic Manager and the Medical Director.
Provides help to management, including hiring and training, and keeps management updated on team performance.
- Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
- Two years of relevant experience as a licensed Registered Nurse (RN). Degrees in lieu of experience will not be accepted.
- Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- Primary care experience
- Epic software knowledge
- Patient with excellent problem-solving skills
- Serve as a mentor and resource to othersAmbulatory nursing experience
- Must be a team player and demonstrate commitment to clinical care
- Excellent on communication and leadership skills
- Must be flexible on working hours
- Excellent computer skills (MS PowerPoint, Excel, and Word)
- Demonstrated interpersonal relationship skills; written and verbal communication skills in English, and ability to work in a fast paced medical office environment
Physical Risks: Potential exposures to blood borne pathogens (blood and/or other potentially infectious materials), drugs, chemicals, radiation, and physical hazards found in patient clinics, hospitals and/or laboratory work environments and in working directly with patients and other employees. Initial Blood borne Pathogens Training is required, and a Blood borne Pathogens Refresher Training must be taken annually.
