Senior Vice President and Provost

Kent State University, a top-ranked national public research university with eight campuses in Northeast Ohio, seeks an accomplished, dynamic and strategic academic leader and scholar to serve as senior vice president and provost. The successful candidate will play an instrumental role in leading Ohio’s largest multi-campus system at an important stage in its history and development. The senior vice president and provost joins an experienced and cohesive leadership team and works closely with the president, the Board of Trustees, deans, senior administrators, faculty, staff and students to continue the university’s rise among top-tier research universities.

Consistently among Ohio’s top three largest public universities at 37,000 students, Kent State University is ranked by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching among the nation’s 76 public higher-research universities and in the top-tier list of Best National Universities by U.S. News & World Report. With eight campuses spanning Northeast Ohio, the College of Podiatric Medicine and academic sites in major world cities including New York City, Geneva and Florence, Kent State is one of Ohio’s leading public universities and a major educational, economic and cultural resource reaching far beyond the Northeast Ohio region it has served since 1910. The Kent Campus, which has a student body of 27,000, is located in Kent, a vibrant city of 30,000 within the greater Cleveland-Akron metropolitan area.

Qualifications include: a terminal degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution; 10 years of experience as a university-level faculty member and administrator at a doctoral-granting university; and an impressive academic record sufficient to qualify for faculty appointment at the rank of full professor. The ideal candidate will have a distinguished record of research, scholarship or creative activity that has greatly impacted the scholar’s discipline.
