Minimum Qualifications
  • An undergraduate degree in biology, exercise science or physiology, nutrition, biochemistry, molecular biology, or related fields.
  • Experience with tissue culture, animal, and human research projects.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, and solid analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to work and contribute as a member of a research group.
  • Must be a team player and able to work a flexible schedule based on study needs.
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The primary purpose of this position is to support academic research in association with a research team.

Duties and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following:
Research Support:

  • Conduct assays and ensure that all procedures are performed properly and according to regulations. Assays will require experience in the use of blood sample preparation, basic immune assays, ELISA, and tissue culture. Although not required, other experience is valued, especially with assays using HPLC, western blot, quantitative reverse transcription- PCR, and flow cytometry.
  • Coordinate exercise biochemistry assay development.
  • Work closely with the director in developing plans, strategies, and research outcomes.
  • Coordinate with collaborating laboratories and researchers from other universities.
  • Must be willing and/or able to handle human samples of blood, urine, fecal matter, and saliva for lab assays such as ELISA, HPL -C, and plate assays.


Data/Information Collection:

  • Ability to ensure quality control during data collection in the Human Performance and/or Exercise Science Biochemistry labs.
  • Ability to organize and prepare data for analyses.


Lab/Subject Care:

  • Ability to comply with all Environmental Health and Safety policies.
  • Must be able to independently use lab equipment in the Biochemistry Lab.
