GENERAL SUMMARY

This position is responsible for major financial reporting, government mandated filing and routine reconciliations. The Senior Accountant must also be able to provide customer-focused services to management, employees and students population. Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating and reconciling transactions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•Conducts monthly, quarterly and annual account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and general ledger maintenance.

•Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions; performs variance analyses and prepares account reconciliations; researches and resolves discrepancies. Reconciles sub-ledger to general ledger account balances.

•Summarizes financial results and status by collecting information from accounting department and other stakeholders; prepares journal entries and reconciliations on a timely basis.

•Maintains and reconciles fixed assets/inventory schedules.

•Performs monthly balance sheet, income statement, cash flow as well as budget variance analyses.

•Manages general ledger and assist month-end/year-end close processes.

•Participates in financial standards setting and in forecast/budget planning process.

•Assists with audits, tax and government mandated filing/reporting.

•Ensures compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

•Coordinates organization’s finance projects and initiatives with other members of the accounting and finance team and/or with other departments.

•Liaise with finance/accounting department and other academic/operation departments, improves business practices.

•Assesses internal controls, including risk assessments and reviews of risk areas.

•Develops and implements business processes, finance/accounting policies and procedures, internal process guidelines, etc. Maintains and strengthen internal controls.

•Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May perform other duties and responsibilities that management may deem necessary from time to time.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

•Position may be required to travel up to 20%.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

•Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required (Master’s preferred) with at least 5 years relevant experiences.

•Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

•Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.

•Highly detail-oriented and organized. Superior analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong qualitative and analytical skills and have ability to perform basic statistical calculations and evaluate results.

•Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees and communicates with all levels of management.

•Strong planning and organization skills. Must be able to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects. Ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines.

•Must have a strong customer service/consulting orientation.

•Highly proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, etc. Proficiency with accounting software and experience with system implementation a plus.

•Excellent communication and presentation skills, both oral and written.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment but may involve exposure to moderate noise levels. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for six to eight hours daily and includes physical demands associated with a traditional office setting, e.g., walking, standing, communicating, and other physical functions as necessary.
