The Physics department at Syracuse University is soliciting applications for a post- doctoral researcher who will work in experimental single-molecule biophysics and bionanoscience in the group of Prof. Liviu Movileanu at Syracuse University, Syracuse (NY). The candidate should be a recent Ph.D. in physics, biophysics, chemical biology or a related field. Desirable experience should be in at least one of the following areas: single-molecule biophysics, molecular biology and protein chemistry, nanofabrication, as well as advanced imaging and fluorescence methods. The successful candidate will employ nanopore probe techniques to detect proteins by single-molecule stochastic sensing. The initial appointment is for one year with the possibility for renewal positions in the following years. This position involves both fundamental and applicative research as well as advising graduate students in a highly interdisciplinary and self-contained research team. He/she will also contribute to mentoring students working on research projects in the group. The appointment will begin Fall of 2020.

Qualifications

Required qualification for consideration is a PhD in Physics, Biophysics, Engineering, or a related field, and demonstrated experience in biophysics.

Desirable experience should be in at least one of the following areas: single-molecule biophysics, molecular biology and protein chemistry, nanofabrication, as well as advanced imaging and fluorescence methods.
