West Virginia University School of Medicine announces openings for General Internal Medicine physicians with the Department of Medicine. This position will focus primarily on academic inpatient internal medicine with a small outpatient component. At WVU, you will work with a team of over 24 outstanding and experienced internists. All subspecialties are present and available for consultation within the clinic and hospital. The Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center has a full complement of academic programs in the clinical and basic sciences. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will be actively involved in educating medical students and internal medicine residents. Opportunities also exist in clinical research. Physicians with a special interest in global health would have an opportunity to participate in our rapidly expanding global health residency track.

The General Internal Medicine section serves a large inpatient volume of approximately 900 discharges per month. Impatient services are supported by a team of care coordinators, pharmacist, and social workers. A transition care clinic and network of primary care providers in the region provide outpatient care after patient discharge.

Successful candidates must have an MD, MD/PhD or DO degree (the employer accepts foreign educational equivalent) and be eligible to obtain an unrestricted West Virginia medical license. Candidates must have completed an accredited internal medicine residency program at the time of appointment. Faculty rank and salary will be commensurate with credentials.
