The Operations/Simulation Technician Specialist [OSTS] has overall
responsibility for maintaining simulation equipment and supporting
the initiatives and goals as defined by the Simulation Coordinator
in collaboration with the Chief Nursing Administrator and
Interprofessional Faculty for the College. Duties include
coordinating a broad range of simulation center functions including
collaboration with faculty in the development of scenarios,
maintenance and programming of equipment, trouble shooting
operational problems, collaborating with other information system
technicians, assisting faculty in training related to the
utilization of the human patient simulators, and participating in
strategic planning in use of simulation in Nursing education and
within the University.DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides technical support within the simulation centers.
Supports academic faculty, staff and students within the simulation centers.
Controls patient simulator during scenario based training sessions.
Hosts simulation center tours as requested.
Responsible for demonstrating the use of the simulation center equipment to students, faculty, staff and outside users when requested.
Collaborates with the Simulation Coordinator in the maintenance and operation of all simulation center equipment; arranges for repair and upgrades as requested.
Troubleshoots simulator software and hardware problems.
Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies within the simulation centers.
Maintains a record of the use of human patient simulators and associated equipment related to: utilization, performance, maintenance, system upgrades and user satisfaction.
Orients and provides hands-on training to faculty/staff in use of equipment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Minimum: Associate Degree in Science, Computer Technology or related field.
Preferred: Baccalaureate degree.
Desired: Two years technical experience in information technology and media equipment presentation, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
