Job Description:

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Develop a Professional Tutor noncredit training program in an online format and/or deliver online with some remote live-stream instruction and assessment of student learning. Course to be delivered during the Fall 2020 semester and/or Winter/Spring 2021 semester.


Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Expertise in teaching a tutor development program or related teacher professional development program at the community college level.
  2. Experience developing and using modern multimedia (audio, video, podcasts, etc.) to enhance student engagement in active and collaborative learning.
  3. Experience using evidence based best practices in online learning pedagogy (e.g., frequent communication, active learning practices) that supports student success in ubiquitous spaces.
  4. Experience teaching a diverse student body at a community college or similar environment.
  5. Enthusiasm for and interest in excellence for the delivery of online learning.
  6. Experience using evidence based strategies to support student success including frequent communication and active learning.
  7. Documentation of professional development in online course design and pedagogy through Quality Matters or equivalent program, or willingness to complete Quality Matters online professional development modules.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master's degree in a closely related discipline and college-level teaching experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Expertise teaching the necessary content knowledge in tutoring and/or related teacher professional development program using a popular Learning Management System (i.e. Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard). Moodle training with respect to course organization and optimization will be provided as needed.



Additional Information:

COMPENSATION : Compensation for developing this 40-hour noncredit online course and participation in one (1) Quality Matters online professional development program listed below is $1,125. Complete three (3) Quality Matters workshops to receive an additional stipend of $250.

  • Designing Your Online Course (Starts in June/July/August/September) NEW!
  • Creating Presence in Your Online Course (HE); (Starts in June/July/August/September)
  • Evaluating Your Course Design (Starts in June/July/August/September)
