The University of Florida’s College of Public Health and Health Professions invites applications and nominations for the position of

Chair, Health Services Research, Management and Policy

The Department seeks a dynamic leader whose key responsibilities include expansion of current academic programs, guidance and leadership toward increasing the department’s research and scholarly portfolio, oversight of departmental operations (e.g., fiscal, human resources, policies and governance) and development and implementation of strategic initiatives and partnerships. The chair may also qualify for the Blue Cross and Blue Shield eminent scholar chair position.

Department Overview (www.hsrmp.phhp.ufl.edu): The department is located in the contemporary Health Professions, Nursing, and Pharmacy Complex and is part of the top ranked accredited College of Public Health and Health Professions. The department offers a Master of Health Administration Program and oversees the health services research concentration in the PhD in Public Health Program and the population health management concentration in the MPH program. It also provides leadership to the MPH social behavioral sciences and public health practice concentrations. Faculty also contribute to the undergraduate health science and public health programs through teaching and mentorship. Departmental faculty provide instructional and health services research expertise in diverse health areas, such as diabetes, infectious disease, cancer, and cardiovascular disease. The department also houses the Florida Office on Disability and Health, whose mission is to improve access to health services and overall quality of life for people with disabilities.

The College of Public Health and Health Professions ( www.phhp.ufl.edu ) is part of the University of Florida’s Academic Health Center. The UF Academic Health Center ( https://ufhealth.org/about-us ) is the only AHC in the country with six colleges located on a single, contiguous campus. These include Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health and Health Professions, and Veterinary Medicine. The Academic Health Center also partners with the adjacent UF Health Shands Hospital, the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center, and the UF Academic Health Center Regional campus located in Jacksonville, FL. Additional major institutes and centers at the University of Florida include the Institute of Child Health Policy, the UF Health Cancer Center, the UF Genetics Institute, the Emerging Pathogens Institute, the Clinical and Translational Science Institute, and the McKnight Brain Institute, all of which provide state-of-the-art environments and access to large data sets for faculty collaboration.

Minimum Requirements: Academic credentials should include a doctoral degree in health services research, health administration, health management, health economics, health policy, public health or related field.

Preferred Qualifications: The well-qualified candidate will have a distinguished record of scholarly achievement, extramural funding, and mentoring and leadership experience consistent with the rank of professor.
