Teach graduate level counseling courses across the eight CACREP core areas in both school and mental health counseling, and supervise interns in a unique, intensive, face-to-face, weekend delivery model over three semesters of an academic year. The position is a 10-month, tenure-track appointment, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Located in north central Montana with nearby mountains, rivers, lakes, streams, and prairies, MSU-Northern is a comprehensive university offering undergraduate and graduate programs. 1. Teach graduate level counseling courses across the
eight CACREP core areas in both school and mental health
counseling;
2. Supervise interns
3. Fulfill institutional, community, and professional service
and/or scholarship responsibilities.
4. Collaborate with faculty across the college
5. Develop relationships with school districts and regional
cooperative education services.
6. Advise students.
Required Qualifications:
Earned doctorate in counselor education, with an emphasis
in professional school counseling from
a CACREP accredited program by date of appointment;
• Established professional identity as a professional school
counselor educator through affiliation with relevant k-12 school
counseling experience and counseling associations.
• Evidence of successful teaching and communication skills in
counselor education;
• Experience providing supervision to counselors-in-training;
• Licensure, or eligibility for licensure, as a professional
counselor in the State of Montana. If not currently licensed,
candidates must describe in detail what steps will need to be taken
to become licensed.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experiences in preparing for CACREP self-study for
accreditation
• Minimum 2 years of experience working as a professional school
counselor in elementary, middle, or high school settings
• Demonstrate effective leadership, strategic planning, writing,
and intercultural skills
• Experience teaching face-to-face, online, or hybrid courses
• Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive
school counseling programs (i.e., ASCA National
Model, RAMP, etc.)
• Active membership in professional counseling and school
counseling associations
