Position Information Working Title: Teaching, Learning, and Technology Consultant UW System Title: Information Processing Consultant Essential Job Functions This position reports to the Director of the Center for Advancement of Teaching and Learning (CATL) and plays a key role in the University's efforts to develop and support teaching and learning across modalities. This person works with faculty and staff and provides instructional design support, software and technology instruction, and educational development programming. As a member of CATL, this person will also support the operation of teaching and learning tools and equity-minded, evidence-based instructional methods. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, working with instructors and instructional designers to develop courses, projects, activities, and assignments; supporting UW-Green Bay and UW System initiatives and campus education technology efforts; and supporting the learning management system (LMS) and other tools.   This position includes the following responsibilities:  
  • Create and implement course resources.
  • Provide various forms of training for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Explore, pilot, and promote new tools for instructors.
  • Provide consultation and expertise to faculty and staff in support of instruction.
  • Assist with projects, activities, campus and community events, workshops, etc., pertaining to instructional design, tools, and pedagogy.
  • Create documentation and instruction for supported technologies.
  • Work with CATL team to support the effective use of the LMS and learning technology integrations.
  • Provide direct support to faculty and staff interested in using tools to enhance courses.
  • Provide demonstrations, consultations, and resources for students utilizing educational technologies.
  • Provide support for assessing the instructional effectiveness of course materials to improve future offerings.
  • Work with Instructional Designers, CATL Director, faculty, and staff (e.g., academic librarians, Disability Services, advisors, the Office of Student Success and Engagement, IT HelpDesk, etc.) to promote effective teaching and learning.
  • Participate in professional development communities, workshops, and conferences related to the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL), instruction, and technology at UW-Green Bay, UW System, and elsewhere.
Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree at time of application
  • Knowledge of the field of instructional technology
  • Windows PC and Mac skills and familiarity with productivity software applications
  • Experience working with any of the following: content management systems (e.g. WordPress), LMSs (e.g. Canvas), web and programming languages (e.g. HTML, CSS, Javascript, etc.), or classroom technology
  PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in instructional design, educational technology, or related field
  • Two years' experience in faculty technology support
  • Experience supporting instructional tools and knowledge of best practices regarding technology in education
  • Experience collaborating with instructors to implement pedagogical strategies in a variety of modalities
  • Experience training instructors and/or teaching experience in a higher education environment
  • Knowledge of authoring tools (Adobe Captivate, H5P, Storyline, iSpring, etc.)
  • Instructional design experience (especially related to culturally responsive pedagogies, equity-minded instruction, universal design for learning, etc.)
  • Experience applying course quality assurance processes (e.g. Quality Matters, OLC Quality Scorecards, etc.)
  • Knowledge of accessibility guidelines, compliance, and regulations, web standards, closed captioning, etc.
  • Experience managing projects or initiatives
