Air University’s eSchool of Graduate Professional Education invites applications from qualified individuals for the faculty position of Professor of Warfare Studies. The eSchool prepares officers of all services, International Officers, and Civil Service employees to assume positions of higher responsibility. The eSchool offers a Master's of Military Operational Art and Science degree and graduate-level programs of study.

The focus of the position is on curriculum development and instruction in the Squadron Officers School, Air Command and Staff College, and Air War College distance learning programs. Faculty members develop curriculum for online courses delivered to more than 26,000 students; teach both non-resident and in-resident core and elective courses; and participate, as required, in exercises that support the school's course of study. Because of the interdisciplinary nature of the eSchool, this position may require teaching, researching, and serving across disciplines within the school and across the university.

Qualifications Potential focus areas for the Professor of Warfare Studies include, but are not limited to, academic knowledge of or extensive practical experience with the development of joint and combined warfighting strategies, national security strategy, global integrated all-domain operations, international political structures, strategy, the joint interorganizational environment, air/space operations, and especially joint/airpower/spacepower organization and employment.

eSchool faculty provide academic expertise supporting the design, development and delivery of the school's educational programs, develop curriculum for online graduate-level courses, and teach both non-resident and in-resident classes within core curriculum courses. eSchool faculty also provide institutional service to the Air Command and Staff College and the Air University.

The faculty position has a focus on joint all-domain operations in general, with a particular focus on joint airpower and joint spacepower planning and employment. Strong knowledge of and practical experience with joint, airpower, and/or spacepower strategy, command and control arrangements, organizations, and planning processes across the spectrum of military operations is highly desired. More broadly, the position requires knowledge of service and/or joint military strategy and doctrine, national military strategy, military thought and theory, military history, joint/combined planning and joint and combined warfighting strategies.

The incumbent must possess a minimum of a Master's Degree. Extensive relevant professional experience is highly desired, as well as academic curriculum development and teaching experience. It is desired that the successful candidate hold a doctoral degree or requisite experience in a relevant academic discipline and field, such as military or diplomatic history, international relations, security studies or a closely-related academic concentration. Demonstrated superior teaching performance and experience with Distance Education programs is desired.
