Physician – Pediatric Emergency Medicine
West Virginia University is seeking a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physician (ranks available: Assistant, Associate or Full Professor) for its School of Medicine. Position is primarily clinically based in Morgantown, WV.
Duties: Provide clinical care and teach medical students and residents in the area of Pediatric Emergency Medicine; scholarly activities are also highly encouraged.
Qualifications: M.D. [or D.O.] degree or foreign equivalent. Completed residency in Emergency Medicine or Pediatrics with a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship and West Virginia Medical License eligible. Preferred candidates will have completed a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship. Candidates for Assistant Professor rank must be board eligible in Emergency Medicine or Pediatric Emergency Medicine. Candidates for Associate and Full Professor rank must be board certified in Emergency Medicine or Pediatric Emergency Medicine. Candidates for Associate and Full Professor rank must also have an outstanding record of teaching, research, and service.
With an anticipated opening in summer 2021, our new 150 bed Children’s Hospital and Women’s Pavilion will include a new pediatric emergency department. A level 1 trauma center, the ED will have 11 rooms including 2 resuscitation rooms and a vertical care/fast track space. Included in the ED is a dedicated radiology suite and bedside ultrasound. The Children’s Hospital and Women’s Pavilion will have a full suite of pediatric operating rooms, cardiac catheterization lab/interventional radiology, and GI-endoscopy with dedicated pediatric anesthesia staff. The hospital will include 34 pediatric beds, 54 NICU beds, 31 PICU beds, Heart Institute, and a dedicated Pediatric Blood and Cancer Center. The provider staff will have appointment within the academic department of emergency medicine. EM and Pediatric EM candidates are encouraged to apply.
The WVU Department of Emergency Medicine’s 100+ faculty and physicians, 30 residents, two sports medicine fellows, two point of care ultrasound fellows, and 60+ advanced practice providers are engaged in a host of extramurally-funded, investigator initiated research projects. Departmental research interest include stroke, traumatic brain injury, emergency medical and pre-hospital services, event medicine, tactical medicine and disaster planning, medical education, population health, telemedicine, rural EM, domestic partner violence, and point-of-care ultrasound.
