Job Description:

Lesley seeks a Director of Multicultural Affairs and Student Inclusion to provide leadership and coordination for student support, activities and programs aligned with the strategic Inclusive Excellence goals of the University.

The selected individual will enhance the student experience as it relates to matters of identity-based support & development, leadership development, education and co-curricular engagement at Lesley, and to infuse diversity, equity and inclusion principles into Lesley's co-curricular and student life experiences; collaborate with other university staff, faculty and offices to develop and implement programs that promote students' development of intercultural competence; organize programs that promote the social, cultural, and educational development of students and that increases students' capacity for critical thought around issues of diversity and inclusion, as well as their ability to engage across difference and create inclusive spaces in their immediate environment; facilitate student training programs that promote social justice and awareness, including diversity and inclusion, and collaborates with faculty and Academic Affairs to encourage multicultural competencies in co-curricular activities for every Lesley student; help to create an environment on campus that supports critical dialogue and learning on the various forms of oppression and biases that impede the creation of a truly inclusive community; and advises individual students on issues related to students' identity and cultural background, helping to address challenges and biases that might inhibit student development and their ability to participate equally and fully in the Lesley community.


Requirements:

The successful candidate will have three to five years of experience working with student groups on a college or university campus to create a more diverse and inclusive community; proven ability to accomplish goals with organizations seeking to be more diverse and inclusive; knowledge of basic tenets of social justice education and ability to appropriately and effectively understand and adapt to cultural difference within a group environment; an awareness of group norms/dynamics that stem from identity based difference; demonstrated skills necessary for creating an environment that allows for inclusion and effective intercultural engagement; an awareness of group norms/dynamics that stem from identity-based difference; skills necessary for creating an environment that allows for inclusion and effective intercultural engagement; ability to lead and to collaborate, to plan strategically and to interact effectively with a diverse range of individuals and groups; strong verbal and written communication skills and superior listening skills, and have at least a Master's degree.
