Job Description:
The Director of University Advising is responsible for leading a comprehensive integrated approach to advising that intentionally advances student success. The Director provides vision and direction for student-centered undergraduate and graduate advising. The Director is responsible for comprehensive evaluation and continuous improvement of advising services and university policy related to academic advising. The Director reports to the Vice President for Student Success, Analytics and Integrated Planning, and is responsible for advising resource planning, management, budgets, technology, facilities, and personnel.


Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree (conferred on an official transcript at the time of application).
  • Five years of progressively responsible professional experience in student advising, student success, student services, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in supervision of personnel and budget management.
  • Demonstrated application of college student development theories and high-impact student success practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in program and service development and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated excellent written, oral, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and articulate processes and systems to guide work of self and others.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently within ambiguous situations and apply novel solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across organizational structures with personnel at all levels of an organization.
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing a diverse, equitable and inclusive working and learning environment.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctorate or Terminal Degree.
  • Demonstrated experience leading change management efforts and continuous process improvement.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management.


Other Requirements:
Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.
