Over the course of its 53-year history, the DeGroote School of Business has developed a reputation for launching innovative new programs, establishing new areas of research and teaching excellence, and building interdisciplinary research, teaching and degree partnerships. The accelerated full-time option of the Master of Health Management program and the Integrated Business and Humanities Program (IBH), are a recognition of the unique interests and specialized needs of today’s business professionals. Today, the DeGroote School is home to 3,000 undergraduate students and 800 graduate students.

The DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University is actively seeking an experienced and forward-thinking academic leader to serve as the new Dean. Reporting to the Provost & Vice President Academic, the Dean of the DeGroote School of Business provides strategic and operational leadership over the administrative and academic priorities of the Faculty. The Dean is responsible for the overall management of the Faculty and will serve as a collegial leader to faculty, staff, and students. The new Dean is a champion for the Faculty and is responsible for advancing excellence in research, teaching, learning, scholarship, and creative activities and for the development, delivery and ongoing quality review of innovative and interdisciplinary programs and initiatives within the Faculty. The Dean also acts as a key liaison in building relationships with external stakeholders, including the international community, to promote the academic and research agenda of the School and University, as well as in actively stewarding funds for innovative and creative projects, research, and infrastructure.

The new Dean of the DeGroote School of Business will possess a record of successful academic administrative experience and familiarity with the process of academic planning, including budget management and resource allocation, as well as a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Dean will also hold a PhD in a related discipline and have a distinctive record of academic achievement and demonstrated commitment to research, teaching, and learning in a discipline aligned with the DeGroote School of Business.  Along with in-depth knowledge of the post-secondary education environment, the new Dean brings outstanding communication and relationship building skills, as well as being a visionary leader with the ability to operationalize a strategic plan.
