Directs student advising for the Law Center. This includes academic advising and counseling, health & wellness programming, and bar support.

1. Maintains a regular schedule of student appointments and advising sessions to advise students on academic policies, course selection, course loads, graduation and other academic endeavors.

2. Develops and presents academic counseling workshops and programs.

3. Counsels students in crisis, including working closely and collaboratively with faculty, staff, Law Center departments, and University of Houston administrative offices to help students navigate personal matters.

4. Collaborates with other Law Center departments in development of programs and advisement for students.

5. Assists the leadership of Academic Affairs and Student Services in dealing with students requiring special assistance.

6. Provides leadership and oversight over the disability accommodations program and process.

7. Directs the academic enrichment programs and related tutoring programs.

8. Works with J.D., and on occasion LL.M., students on academic support and bar passage.

9. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

J.D. required and a minimum of three (3) years of direct job-related experience.

3. Assists the Admissions Committee in development of programs and advisement for at-risk students admitted to the Law Center.

4. Serves as the students' ombudsman during decisions of suspension and readmission.

5. Assists the Associate Deans for Academic Affairs and Student Services in dealing with students requiring special assistance.

6. Works with J.D. and LL.M. students on academic support and bar passage.

7. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Notes to Applicant: Pay is commensurate with experience, but the quartile annual salary level for the pay grade attached to this position is approximately $62,000. Relevant experience as As the only position within Student Affairs designated for a J.D., other than the Assistant Dean position overseeing Student Affairs (“ADSA”), the position influences many student matters.
