The Division of Social Work at California State University,
Sacramento, invites applications for two tenure-track faculty
positions at the rank of Assistant Professor, with appointments
beginning August 2018. Responsibilities will include teaching
either graduate or undergraduate courses in social work and a
designated cognate area, mentoring students, participating in
university and community service, and engaging in academic
scholarship. The Division seeks applicants with experience in HBSE
and practice, or in health and aging.
Housed within the College of Health and Human Services, the
Division of Social Work prepares ethical and effective social
workers who serve diverse populations and contribute to human
well-being and social justice through leadership, developing and
delivering services, and policy advocacy. As one of the largest
programs in California and the nation, the Division offers BSW and
MSW degree programs. In the MSW program, the Division has
established three specialized practice areas: Behavioral Health,
Children & Families, and Health & Aging.
A successful faculty member in the Division promotes the values of
a public, regional, and highly diverse university. Our campus
community represents the broad diversity of California, and we
believe that we are all are enriched and unified through this
diversity. Candidates are required to have both an MSW from a
CSWE-accredited program and a doctorate (Ph.D. or DSW) in social
work / welfare (or a closely related field; ADB candidates will
also be considered). In addition, candidates must have a minimum of
two-years post-MSW experience in social work, as well as have the
ability to teach in the BSW and MSW programs. Successful candidates
will demonstrate potential for effectiveness in scholarly
productivity as well as in teaching within a highly diverse
environment.
