Teaching faculty at Guilford Technical Community College are responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, developing curriculum courses, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field. Every faculty member is responsible for quality instruction and for effective participation and interest in the total affairs of the college.

The Division of Business, Creative and Performing Arts at Guilford Technical Community College seeks an energetic, enthusiastic and collaborative legal educator to join our team as a part-time Advertising and Graphic Design program instructor. Under the supervision of the Department Chair, this individual will prepare and teach courses designed to support our Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree program to include Computer Graphics, Computer Graphics Applications, Graphic Design, Design Applications, Typography, Photographic Imaging, and Illustration. The successful candidate should be prepared to integrate technology skills into the classroom, be available to teach at times and locations that meet the needs of students, and be committed to working constructively with all facets of our program within a community college setting. This faculty position will complement and broaden our graphic design program as we look to expand the concentration's curricular offerings to include emerging areas in new media. Therefore, the ideal candidate would have specialization in one or more areas related to: motion design, time-based media, video production, interactive media design, UI and UX design, Web Design and animation. The candidate will have a strong grasp of typography, design history and the designer's role in visual problem solving and communication.

Successful applicants will be placed into our pool of adjuncts to be assigned sections or serve as substitute instructors on an as needed basis.

Education Required: - BFA in Graphic Design or related field that includes 18 hours in Graphic Design, from a regionally accredited institution of higher education

Education Preferred: - MA or MFA in Graphic Design or closely related field that includes 18 hours in Graphic Design, from a regionally accredited institution of higher education

Experience Required: - Three years relevant Industry or Field experience in Graphic Design projects - Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud applications - Post-secondary teaching and/or professional training experience in any of the following formats: teaching courses, training sessions, conducting professional development workshops, and/or other continuing education seminars

Experience Preferred: - Four or more years relevant Industry or Field experience in Graphic Design projects - Community College teaching experience - Experience in interactive, UI or UX design - Experience teaching typography, visual design and conceptual problem solving - Demonstrated involvement in the design community through projects or organizations - Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems
