Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor

Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in the School of Chinese Medicine (Ref.: 501716), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.

Applicants should possess (i) a recognized undergraduate degree in Chinese Medicine registrable with the Chinese Medicine Council of Hong Kong and a Ph.D. degree in Chinese Medicine or related disciplines; (ii) substantial experience, knowledge and skills in the practice of Chinese Medicine; (iii) a well-recognized track record of research and scholarship in the discipline as measured by impactful publications, extramural grant success, supervision of research postgraduate students in tertiary institutions and cross-disciplinary collaborative ties; (iv) commitment to Chinese Medicine education, with interests in pursuing innovations in pedagogy, evaluation, curriculum design and teaching practice; (v) evidence of international recognition for scholarship and professional expertise; (vi) demonstrated administrative leadership in tertiary institutional or healthcare settings, and effective management of a large clinical-cum-research programme and/or academic department; (vii) demonstrated tact and diplomacy in building partnership with external bodies including government, non-profit organizations, the pharmaceutical industry, etc.; (viii) an understanding of the East Asia context, particularly Hong Kong and the Mainland China; and (ix) proficiency in both Chinese and English.

The appointee will take part in healthcare services, teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, supervision of research postgraduate students, and academic research. He/She is also expected to perform administrative duties at the Departmental and Faculty levels. Candidates with less experience may be considered for appointment as Associate Professor/Assistant Professor.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
