The Student Financial Services Specialist is integral in providing operational support for the Office of Student Financial Services and resolving questions and concerns for students and parents regarding tuition accounts. The Student Financial Services Specialist must provide exceptional customer service and collaborate with other student service departments to ensure seamless and consistent processes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide exceptional customer service in all job functions/interactions
- Assist with all aspects of the Office of Student Financial
Services functions including front desk responsibilities, but not
limited to:
- Determine when students and others need to see Financial Aid or Student Accounts representatives
- Resolve basic questions and communicate payment and check-in process completion steps to students, in person, over the phone, and email
- Answer phones, take messages, and check voice mail
- Process and record student and non-student account receivable
payments
- Accurately process, record and reconcile cash receipts
- Process credit card payments in accordance with privacy practices
- Assist with payment plan and refund processing
- Maintain confidentiality of records and information
- Assume additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION / EXPERIENCE):
- High School diploma or equivalent, plus relevant specialized training
- Minimum of 3-12 months in Student Services or Customer Service
SKILLS AND SPECIFICATIONS:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) basic applications
- Ability to learn technological applications
- General office skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to relate effectively with students, staff members, and office visitors
- Ability to work in a fast paced, highly quality-focused service environment with excellent organizational skills and a professional manner
- Ability to take directions and use independent judgment
- Ability to work in a safe and secure work environment that may periodically have unpredicted requirements or demands
- Ability to use small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems
