Job Description:

Position Summary:

The YMOC/YWOC Advisor will play a significant role in the administration of the YMOC/YWOC program. The Advisor reports directly to the Chief Diversity Officer and will work 12 up to 18 hours a week at the Wellesley campus and may be assigned to the Framingham campus for a day.

The Advisor will track and provide support services to program participants and duties will include but not limited to the following:

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Serve as Advisor for program participants; meet one-on-one with students (25 to 30 students) twice a month;
  • Ensure that the students are prepared for classes (textbooks, syllabus, etc.);
  • Encourage students to meet with their Professors and Academic Advisor prior to registration (prepared their class schedule);
  • Encourage students to apply for scholarships, grants, and financial aid; and to form study groups with peers;
  • Assist students exploring and participating in various clubs on campus;
  • Assist students with locating campus support resources; and scheduling monthly activities that are of interest to the students;
  • Help coordinate monthly YMOC & YWOC meetings;
  • Recommend and assist in activities and securing speakers series throughout the academic year;
  • Maintain a YMOC & YWOC distribution list;
  • Co-editor a weekly update to the YMOC & YWOC distributions;
  • Provide a bi-monthly status of students served and suggestions for areas requiring improving;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with this student population;
  • Associate degree or higher;
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire others;
  • Proven ability to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds.



Additional Information:

Education: Associate Degree; Bachelor's preferred

Salary Range: $15-$18 per hour

Schedule: Not to exceed 18 hours per week, specific hours to be determined

Classification: Part-time, non-benefitted position

Source of Funding: Local Trust
