tenure-track assistant professor of mid-19th century United States history

Wake Forest University seeks a tenure-track assistant professor of mid-19th century United States history particularly the era of the Civil War, for appointment beginning July 2018. The teaching and research portfolio for this position includes the period from 1830 to 1877, comprising the Jacksonian era, slavery, the sectional crisis, Civil War, emancipation, and reconstruction. The teaching of an introductory-level World Civilizations course is also required. Excellent teaching of undergraduates and high-quality scholarship are central to Wake Forest's mission. We expect candidates will have Ph.D. in hand by July 2018.
