Job Description:
Position Summary:
MassBay Community College seeks qualified part time instructors for the current and future semesters. The Emergency Medical Services Paramedic Instructor teaches courses in the laboratory and lecture settings in the Paramedicine Program. Our adjunct instructors have obtained appropriate certification and/or licensure where applicable and have earned appropriate education. The Paramedic instructor must be proficient in all areas of prehospital patient management and interventions, communicate effectively, assess students objectively, and work as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Teach courses in Paramedicine program;
- Teach future Paramedicine course as availability exists;
- Prepare syllabi;
- Provide instruction in Paramedicine courses to students on various topics in advanced emergency care procedures and patient management;
- Collaborate with Faculty & Department Chair/Program Director concerning student's academic progress and needs;
- Assess student learning of graduation and Paramedicine competencies;
- Participate in assessment of course and program learning outcomes;
- Recommend to the Department Chair suitable and comprehensive instructional material, textbooks, library acquisitions, and other learning resources;
- Maintain a safe environment during skills training and evaluation sessions;
- Maintain appropriate paperwork and documentation required by the program and accreditation agencies;
- Engage in professional development activities to maintain excellence and expertise in the discipline and in classroom/clinical/simulation teaching;
- Use technology effectively to communicate with students and colleagues to enhance classroom learning as appropriate.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current Massachusetts (MA) Paramedic certification
- Current AHA BLS and ACLS certification;
- Three (3) years of experience as a Paramedic functioning on an emergency response ambulance;
- Current AHA ACLS instructor credentials (required to teach Cardiology: PM 204);
- Current AHA PALS instructor credentials (required to teach Clinical Decision Making: PM 207);
- Current NRP instructor credential (required to teach Clinical Decision Making: PM 207).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree or Higher;
- NREMT Paramedic Certification
- Current AHA BLS and ACLS instructor credentials;
- Current Massachusetts EMS Instructor/Coordinator or other accepted EMS education credential (NCEE, NAEMSE Level I/II);
- Five (5) years or more of experience as a Paramedic functioning on an emergency response ambulance.

Salary Range: $1066.00 - $1288.00 per credit
