Project Director- PACE Project

General Summary/Purpose

The Center for Communication Programs (CCP) at Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health seeks a Project Director for the USAID Policy, Advocacy, and Communication Enhanced for Population and Reproductive Health (PACE) project. This project will center on the integration of Family Planning and Reproductive Health (FP/RH) and Population Environment Development (PED) programs with a focus on organizational and individual capacity strengthening, increased commitments to cross-sector approaches, and engagement with policy and advocacy audiences.

This position is contingent on donor funding.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of project tools, methods, and activities to expand advocacy capacity strengthening and integration of PED programs at the global, regional, and local levels.
  • Leverage CCP institutional partnerships and highly experienced technical experts around the world to develop priorities and facilitate alignment with key groups.
  • Ensure proper staffing including leadership and oversight are in place to meet program goals and objectives.
  • Guide the development of a gender analysis and youth engagement plan including theories of change and implementation mechanisms.
  • Secure and oversee field buy-in activities at regional and local levels.
  • Ensure compliance with USG regulations and CCP policies.
  • Supervise and support the effective management of financial resources and program budgets.
  • Support the development of monitoring and evaluation plans and implementation mechanisms to accurately reflect project goals and objectives.
  • Engage with key stakeholders including USAID, partners, and local governments; Represent the project and organization to USAID and other external stakeholders.
  • Oversee project reporting, documentation, and the development of other deliverables.
  • Uphold CCP’s Code of Conduct.

Minimum Qualifications(Required)

Master’s degree in public health or related field with a focus on cross-sector implementation of FP/RH.

  • Six (6) years of related experience in a leadership role, forging and strengthening cross-sectoral partnerships, securing meaningful commitments, and facilitating co-designed, results-driven actions toward productive integration for PED.

Additional relevant experience and/or training may substitute for some education.

Preferred Qualifications

At least fourteen (14) years of experience in a leadership role, forging and strengthening cross-sectoral partnerships, securing meaningful commitments, and facilitating co-designed, results-driven actions toward productive integration for PED.

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to travel to remote locations

  • French and English fluency
  • Demonstrated implementation knowledge in USAID priority countries
  • Extensive understanding of the integration of PED programs and cross-sector approaches to improve health outcomes and ensure sustainability and growth.
  • Demonstrated ability in engaging youth and applying gender analysis in implementing cross-sector activities and advocacy efforts related to FP/RH and PED.
  • Extensive experience implementing large-scale donor-funded projects internationally.
  • Strong background in strategic communication and strengthening local capacity to lead advocacy and communication efforts.
  • Understanding of and commitment to CCP’s advocacy principles and approaches.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead diverse implementation teams with remote team members to meet program goals.
  • Demonstrated implementation knowledge in USAID priority countries.

This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
