The VCU School of Education is seeking to hire a pool of University Supervisors for the 2020-2021 academic year. The University Supervisor is responsible for instructing, coaching and supervising student teachers during their practical clinical work in school settings in the greater Richmond area. Supervisors provide written evaluations of the student teacher’s performance in accordance with VCU internship policies. In addition, the University Supervisor regularly counsels student teachers, visits them in their clinical experience site, observes and evaluates their performance and provides feedback, confers with the clinical faculty and cooperating teacher(s), and serves as a liaison between the University and the area schools. The University Supervisor must participate in the Clinical Faculty training program during the first year of employment.
1) Hold a valid Virginia Collegiate Professional Certificate and Virginia Teaching Endorsement in one of the following areas: Art Education, Music Education, Special Education, Elementary Education, High School science, math, English, and History; Middle school Education
2) At least 3 years of successful classroom teaching experience.
3) Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
4) Excellent interpersonal skills, in particular the ability to work with students and faculty.
5) Strong verbal and written communication skills.
6) Computer literacy including ability to use spreadsheets and online preforms. 7)Experience working with culturally and economically diverse populations
