Information Technologies is seeking a talented and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Web Developer and Accessibility Specialist. If you’re a creative, design-oriented web developer, passionate about security, privacy and accessibility, this may be the job for you.

In this role, you’ll join our Information Technologies team, support our existing website, and work closely with technical and marketing & communications teams from concept to implementation, as well as on-going support and maintenance of our campus website. We’ll look to you to assist with scope, prioritization, business and technical requirements, web/digital accessibility best practices, and implementation plans for web projects and requests. You will also have the opportunity to shape and execute our web roadmap which includes exploring the migration from Kentico to a new web platform, as well as, advance our campus digital accessibility efforts, and participate on UW and UW Bothell committees and Communities of Practice.

Experiences, qualities, and skills that you’ve refined for success in this role include: collaboration and cross-functional teaming; exceptional communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills; strong analytical, organization, project management, and problem-solving skills; detail-oriented, self-starter who can work independently to meet deadlines; technical aptitude and the desire to continuously learn new technologies, skills, methods, and best practices.

Minimum requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Liberal Arts, related discipline area, or an equivalent combination of experience and/or training.
• At least 4 years of experience with web development, maintenance, and support including experience developing sites, updating and creating modules, development of wireframes and templates, customizing design, and enabling sites to be responsive in content management platforms.
• Experience with web technologies including: HTML, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), and scripting (e.g., jQuery, JSON, JavaScript, Bootstrap).
• Understanding of information architecture including: categorization of content, taxonomy, semantics, design, and security.
• Knowledge and experience implementing best practices for security, privacy (FERPA, GDPR), and accessibility (ADA Section 508, W3C standards).
• Ability to work with a diverse constituency.

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum requirements.

Desired Qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience.
• Experience with Kentico and WordPress.
• Experience with GIT as a version control system.
• Experience with web browser functionalities, variances and limitations, mobile optimization, and web server protocols.
• Awareness of fundamental marketing concepts, search engine optimization, and web analytics.

Working conditions:
• This position requires a flexible work schedule and the ability to work some evenings or weekends.
• Must be able to respond to application related outage and security incidents off hours.
• Remote work options are available.
