Purpose of Position

The Didactic Faculty member will be part of the NAP team and report to the NAP Program Administrator. All NAP specialty faculty will have current certification as Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, teaching and clinical experience, and a background in evidence-based practice. Knowledge of Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs’ policies and procedures, Standards, and graduate teaching experience is preferred. This position requires expertise in obstetric anesthesia practice and content delivery. This is a twelve month clinical faculty position at the assistant or associate clinical professor rank.

Primary Responsibilities

• Assist in development of curriculum and evaluation.

• Participate in program, department, college and/or university governance.

• Didactic, clinical and simulation teaching as assigned with focus in obstetric anesthesia.

• Provide student advising, mentoring, and tutoring.

• Assist in maintaining compliance with accreditation standards.

• Assist in program evaluation.

• Represent NKU NAP within the community of interest.

• Maintain clinical practice.

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Commitment to the mission of NKU, College of Health and Human Services, and NAP .

• Meet NKU requirements for teaching doctoral level courses.

• Doctoral degree with current knowledge, competence and certification or recertification by the NBCRNA as a CRNA with a current, active, unencumbered APRN license to
practice in Kentucky. Doctorate degree must be from an accredited institution recognized by the US Secretary of Education at the time the degree was conferred.

• Formal education in curriculum, evaluation, and instruction.

• Knowledge of environmental issues that influence the program and nurse anesthesia by engaging in professional development.

• Minimum of two (2) years OB clinical experience and didactic teaching experience.

• Active engagement in professional organizations.

• Demonstrate clinical competency in anesthesia.

• Experience in simulation-based teaching preferred.
