The primary purpose for the Financial Aid Coordinator is to review eligibility and award funds for federal and state aid with full authority to commit funds. This is accomplished through pre and post-packaging reports/review of awards and administering the Federal Campus Based programs (SEOG and Work Study). This position serves as a primary point of contact for loan related issues. This position will also assist the Assistant Director with study abroad students, concurrent enrollment students, and Satisfactory Academic Progress reviews as needed.

Duties include: Manages the import and export of files with the Department of Education and resolves all loan related rejects; processes all Direct loans (Sub, Unsub, Parent PLUS and Grad PLUS) and assists with loan related Cflags; provides counseling with students and parents regarding the financial aid process and their eligibility and availability for funding to help finance their educational expenses at UTC; and provides on /off campus presentations to high school, civic clubs, etc. concerning financial aid opportunities and processes.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Must be detail oriented with superior organizational and problem resolution skills

  • Must have effective customer service and interpersonal skills

  • Must be a self-starter and able to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines

  • Basic computer skills including MS Office

  • Ability to work in a highly stressful environment and possess a high energy level as well as a tremendous amount of stamina

  • Be able to work in a computerized environment

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or related field; previous experience in a Student Financial Office; and ability to access student information and reports in the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS).

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree; previous experience using SAP (IRIS) and/or Banner; previous experience with student loans; and knowledge of the Federal Direct Loan programs.
