The University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Department of Art and Design is accepting applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position as Assistant Professor–Digital Art (R96785) to commence August of 2020. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

 

The successful applicant must be able to teach foundation and art appreciation courses, undergraduate and graduate courses in digital arts, illustration and graphic design in both face to face and online modalities. This position will also be responsible for advising and mentoring students, participating in recruiting activities, assessment of curriculum and curriculum development and contributing to department, college and university committees.

 

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate proficiency in a variety of digital media/software including the Adobe Creative Cloud, 3D animation software and demonstrate competency in traditional animation techniques. The successful candidate will be expected to continue professional creative activities and scholarship and establish a professional presence within local artist communities.

 

Required Education: MFA in digital arts or closely associated field; Successful university-level teaching experience beyond graduate assistantships; Evidence of scholarship related to position requirements; Engaged in creative work as a digital artist.

 

Preferred Experience: Two (2) years of experience teaching at the college level; A record of published creative work.

 

The Department of Art and Design has 15 full time faculty and support positions, multiple part-time positions and 170+ majors that include undergraduate and graduate level students. BA and BFA degrees are offered in studio art with concentrations in: painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, graphic design, illustration, and sculpture; applied design with concentrations in furniture design, metals, and ceramics; art education with licensure, and art history. An MA degree is offered with emphases in visual art and art history. The department is housed in the newly constructed 65,500 sq. ft. Windgate Center of Art + Design facility and is accredited by NASAD.
