The School of Art and Design, New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University is seeking an art historian for a full-time, visiting faculty position in Medieval and/or Renaissance and Baroque art for the Spring semester of 2018. Applications are invited from historians with primary expertise in the area of Medieval or Renaissance and Baroque art and the ability to teach introductory and intermediate courses in these areas. Interest in material culture is welcome. Teaching responsibilities include the equivalent of a 3/3 load: a freshman-level, half-semester course in Medieval and/or Renaissance and Baroque art (taught twice), and two upper-division courses in areas of expertise.

With few exceptions, Art History courses are open to all undergraduate students at Alfred University and primarily serve students majoring in studio art (BFA), art history and theory (BS), and interdisciplinary art (BA), and graduate students (MFA).

The Art History curriculum is an integral part of the program at the School of Art and Design. The Division of Art History is one of six divisions in a comprehensive art school with a very active faculty and prolific student body who access renowned facilities for artistic and scholarly research

PhD preferred, ABD considered, in Art History or related field.
