Assistant Professor of English (Technical Writing/Communication, Digital Humanities)

Responsibilities: Teaches 12 credit hours per semester ranging from freshman composition to upper level undergraduate and graduate courses in area of specialization; advises students; conducts research; serves on departmental, college, and/or university committees; writes proposals for public and private grants; performs other related duties as assigned. This is a full-time tenure track faculty position that may require teaching in the evenings and/or weekends. The successful candidate will start work at BSU in August 2019.

Qualifications: At least an MA or MSc required (Ph.D. or doctoral degree preferred) in professional/technical writing/communication, digital humanities, rhetoric and composition, or a related discipline with one or more of the following areas of teaching/research specialization: professional and practical communication skills within the disciplines of Business Administration, Health Sciences, Computer Science, and other STEM disciplines; integrated reading and writing; professional editing and publishing; social media management; digital storytelling; digital humanities; computer-mediated collaboration; web and interaction design; and/or usability studies, user experience, and/or information design.

A minimum of two years of college/university teaching experience. Strong peer-reviewed, scholarly publication record in area of specialization or strong research potential; demonstrated ability to effectively teach undergraduate and graduate courses in area of specialization as well as composition/rhetoric; knowledge and experience in developing and evaluating undergraduate and graduate courses; demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, research/scholarship, and university/community service; excellent communication skills; digital information technology skills a must, including Blackboard; bilingualism in modern languages is also a plus.

Salary Range: $58,000 - $60,000, depending on qualifications and experience
