Assistant Professor of German in the Department of World Languages & Cultures. Elon University invites applications for a tenure-track position in German at the assistant professor level beginning August 2019. The position requires a PhD in German, SLA, Linguistics, or related discipline by August 2019, and native or near-native abilities in German and English.

Candidates should demonstrate the capacity to contribute to a dynamic and growing German program, a scholarly, SoTL-based approach to teaching, and an active disciplinary research agenda that translates well to an undergraduate setting.

Teaching will include beginning, intermediate, and advanced German, plus courses in the Elon Core Curriculum. Candidates who have experience working with a diverse range of people, and who can contribute to the climate of inclusivity, are encouraged to identify their experiences in their cover letter. Please submit a one- or two-page letter of application explaining how you meet the criteria above; CV; three letters of recommendation addressing your teaching, research, and service accomplishments; a description of your teaching philosophy; recent teaching evaluations; and descriptions of two courses you could envision teaching in the Elon Core Curriculum and two you could envision teaching in German (you have full creative control).
