- Teach undergraduate courses in music theory and aural skills including Theory I-IV. The candidate would be expected to teach in an applied area. Other courses that the successful candidate could be asked to teach include music history, methods courses, and liberal arts courses, based upon the needs of the department and/or interests of the candidate.
- Contribute to a program of scholarship within the discipline, student advising, service to the University and community, and other associated faculty duties.
- Contribute to interdisciplinary teaching and involvement in activities that support Bemidji State University's signature themes: International/Multicultural Understanding, Environmental Stewardship, and Civic Engagement.
- The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to a collegial and supportive environment that advances the goals of the department, including curriculum development, assessment, and other departmental governance activities.
- Assist with programmatic accreditation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
- MM degree in music theory or composition from a regionally accredited institution at the start of employment.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality teaching is required.
Preferred:
- Doctorate in music theory or composition from a regionally accredited institution at the start of employment.
- Prior teaching experience in theory and an applied area.
- Demonstrated experience working with and/or interest working with students and colleagues from multi-cultural and diverse backgrounds and using culturally responsive pedagogy and practice
