The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is establishing a pool of applicants to fill potential temporary Clinical Instructors positions for the upcoming semester and beyond. Will work to develop the clinical experience for nursing students for their Community and Mental Health course. Must establish positive working relationships with the clinical agency and assure that all requirements by the agency are met prior to the beginning of the student experience. Works with the clinical agency to assure the appropriate orientation of students to the setting. Creates patient assignments for the students and oversees the students in all clinical work. May use clinical nurse preceptors for student assignments as appropriate to the course, level of student, and agency agreements. Responsible for creating writing assignments for the students; such as nursing care plans, and grades the assigned work using objective evaluative methods. Uses a clinical competency checklist in assuring student success in the clinical setting and an overall evaluation tool for establish student grades for the clinical course.

Will participate in the overall evaluation of assigned course(s) and works with faculty members to improve the course(s) to position students for success. Participates in other work of the department, as appropriate. Works with faculty members to identify and secure additional clinical placement sites. These teaching roles will require face-to-face instruction.

Minimum Qualifications:

A minimum of a BSN. Unencumbered active license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of South Carolina or a Compact state. A minimum of two years of experience related to the area of assigned clinical teaching responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Master's degree in Nursing.
