This is a 12-month position that will be 100% research (Florida Agricultural Experiment Station) available in the Mid-Florida Research and Education Center, Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, at the University of Florida. The successful candidate will use an integrated approach to understand temperature effect on lettuce seed germination and flowering (Huo et al. (2013) Plant Cell 25:884-900; Huo et al. (2016) PNAS, 113(15): E2199; Huo et al (2016) Plant Journal, 88:345-360), and leaf senescence of multiple plant species.

This position requires a person with strong background and interest in plant molecular biology and genetics, and a desire to work on both applied and molecular approaches (CRISPR gene-editing, gene-stacking, miRNAs manipulation, genetic mapping, plant transformation as well as plant physiology and biochemistry). Majority of research activities will be completed at Mid-Florida Education and Research Center, which is about 15miles from Orlando downtown, Florida.

Applicants should receive a Ph.D. degree within the past 5 years with solid background in plant molecular biology and genetics or related disciplines, and have at least one first-authored publication in a peer-reviewed journal. Candidates should be able to think critically and work independently, have excellent organizational and communication skills in written English. Some experiences in tissue culture, plant physiology, genomics will be a plus. Salary is competitive and commensurate with background and experience. This position is immediately available until filled. The position term is one year, and renewable contingent on performance.
