The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville seeks applicants to fill a full-time leadership position as the Division Chief of General Pediatrics. This position will be at the non-tenure accruing level of Associate/Full Professor. As Division Chief, the faculty member will manage the direct clinical care, supervise day-to-day operations, and grow the patient base of the various clinics around the city. The successful candidate must have practice experience and the ability to expand a pediatric practice in an area with excellent demographics and a growing population that is currently underserved by pediatricians.

The physicians and allied health professionals in the Department of Pediatrics are concerned with all children, from newborn to age 18 and are involved in all phases of pediatric clinical care and research, including primary care and subspecialties. Further, the new Division Chief will join an academic health center that is a hub for clinical research, a leader in the education of health professionals and a unique provider of high quality patient care to the region and beyond.

This position will report to the Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville. The following is a general description of duties and responsibilities:

This faculty will have dedicated time (approximately 50%) as Division Chief to supervise, manage, direct and administer the General Academic Pediatric Division, which currently consists of 12 primary care pediatric practices with the UF network (with two additional practices planned within the next year). Responsibilities include a commitment to leadership, resident teaching, advancing quality improvement initiatives and standardization of primary care services. Participation on committees to represent the Department of Pediatrics and the Division of General Academic Pediatrics as required. Attendance at Department faculty meetings and lead Divisional meetings as required.

The University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville is the largest of the three UF colleges - medicine, nursing and pharmacy - located on the approximately 110-acre UF Health Jacksonville campus. The college's 16 clinical science departments house more than 400 faculty members and 300 residents and fellows. The college offers 32 accredited graduate medical education programs. In addition to graduate medical education, clinical rotations in all the major disciplines are provided for students from the UF College of Medicine in Gainesville.

For practicing physicians, the college offers a continuing medical education program that recruits national and international speakers who are well known and respected in their fields. The campus' faculty, residents and fellows are active in clinical research. Residents and fellows regularly present their findings at locations across the country and publish their projects in well-known publications.

Applicants must possess an MD/DO degree, Florida Medical License eligibility and BC/BE in pediatrics.
